In its cover story E-Mail Marketing’s Future…Right Now, Website Magazine’s November issue includes a great reminder to review just before you hit the send button to distribute online newsletters, general messages, and other communications.
The article’s sidebar contains “three tips to make sure your message has the best chance” to be opened and acted upon.
1. Personalization. Include the recipient’s name within the communication.
This is a rule I practice when mailing my weekly newsletter, as my preferred program allows me to add the personalization code above the first article.
However, when sending Facebook messages to Solo Business Marketing group members, customization is not available, so I must ensure that the subject is one that piques members’ interest.
2. Branding. Your business logo, slogan, or online signature provide the branding experience, authenticating your message so that the comfort zone you’ve created extends the relationship.
My logo is included within messages as often as possible, and the same is true for my business slogan. As for the online signature, my newsletter ends with a scanned version of my script-written first name, or I opt for the signature created in MyLiveSignature.com, which you see here:

3. Call to Action. You know this rule as one that motivates the reader or member to act on your message. Actions range from reading more about the subject through a link to purchasing a product or service that solves a problem.
Calls to action can be encouraged more than once in the message. This is something I practice in blog posts to determine what activates readers.

Here’s a question for you. You subscribe to my newsletter; what one thing do you think I should change that would potentially send me customers?
Hi Mitch,
One of my newsletters is archived online for those who haven’t subscribed or don’t know it exists until they visit the archive.
Is a copy of your newsletter online, or can you forward a copy to me via Email?
