Where to Find Templates for New and Existing Projects

by Shirley George Frazier on September 9, 2009

templates make marketing easyWhenever I begin a new campaign, one question that immediately slows my progress is:

“Can I find a sample, template, or blueprint to put my plan together quickly?”

The last thing you want to happen is a stall tactic. My honey calls it “the Donkey Kong effect,” and he’s right.

There’s usually some type of ball or other hurdle to jump over in order to complete your mission, and when you work alone, that ball is enough to make you run in the other direction.

But running away won’t solve the problem.

That’s why I go straight to a computer bookmark I set up for myself called Templates. The first link is to Microsoft’s Template page, an area I’ve mentioned to you in the past.

There are more than 60 template categories arranged in alphabetic order.

Click on any of them, including templates for presentations, plans, note cards, and proposals, and you’ll immediately have access (as long as the required software is in your computer) to dozens of options that can be downloaded to complete as is or customized according to your requirements.

One marketing template that’s been handy for me is the compliments card. Once downloaded, I update it with my company information and logo and the top and a marketing message at the bottom. The cards are printed by me on heavy stock white paper, cut into three strips, and inserted into a holder until it’s time to retrieve one.

I often send these cards to clients and prospects when mailing articles and competitive information I know they want to read. Sticky notes are another handy option, but I find the compliments card to stand out better because I can customize it for soft selling.

Thanks for this valuable information. With all the info around the Internet, there’s no way that one person can learn about it all alone. We count on sharp marketers like you to keep us up to speed.
