Today, I’m faced with several tasks that I’m slow to act on.
But like you, when I decided to start my business, I committed to completing all tasks necessary to operate a successful business no matter how boring or mundane the work.
If I don’t reconcile the accounts, choose Web templates, or bill creditors, my operation will not exist, and I’ll face going back to working for someone else.
The bright light in this equation is that when it’s all done, and by next week it will be done, I can focus my efforts on notifying magazines and specific industry publications about the new sites and services I’m creating to benefit their readers.
That small marketing step brings big benefits that I will enjoy because the reconciliations, template choices, and bill collections will be completed, and I can concentrate on creating products and services that keep visitors buying online or by phone.
It’s normal to procrastinate, so try to an internal boundary where you proclaim, “It’s got to be done,” so that you get yourself in gear to complete all commitments. Without that, you’ll find yourself at someone else’s job rather than operating your own enterprise.

Very good post. Having been working for myself online full time for the past 12 months procrastination is a very big hurdle and one that must be overcome. Mindset is a big thing when in business (or even working for someone). There’s always things we don’t like to do but the sooner we get them done the less stress we’ll have on our mind and we can begin enjoying the things we do like doing.
I bet many solo marketers have been (and may still be) in the same situation and are nodding in agreement with your words.
“Less stress” – now that’s something to work on.
