A Local Event that Generates Marketing Ideas

Last week by mail I received an invitation to attend a real estate investing workshop to be conducted at a local hotel.

You’ve probably received this type of invitation, too. It’s a free event offered at various locations.

You pick a location and register by phone or online. Lunch or dinner is included depending on the session you choose, and a free business item (organizer, flash drive, etc.) is offered as an attendance incentive.

I’m seriously considering attending this event. I treat such workshops as an educational tool, one where I study the presenter’s marketing words and techniques. At the end I expect to leave with a handful of notes to gain new business for myself online and offline.

As a solo business owner, it’s easy to say “no” to attending such an event if the subject matter isn’t your focus or if you feel you’re familiar with the information. However, you never know when a presenter will introduce a topic in a manner you’ve not considered in the past.

You might also meet a businessperson with similar vision for attending the event. That’s when the marketing ideas really begin to flow.
